Meatup, one of the biggest events in the meat industry calendar took place at Arena MK in Milton Keynes on 24-25 May. The two day event consisted of seminars, competitions and exhibitions, all of which demonstrated the dynamism of the meat industry today. Here we take a look at some of the highlights:
Success for first Level 2 Butchery Trailblazer Apprentices
After successfully completing their End Point Assessments (EPA’s), Walter Smith apprentices, Reece Nevard, Curtis Brind and Stephen Maltby were each presented with their Institute for Apprenticeships Apprenticeship completion certificates by Bill Jermey, Chairman of the Institute of Meat.
Not only are they the first to reach their Butchery EPA, they are in fact the first apprentices in the entire food industry to complete their apprenticeships.
Commenting on their achievement Bill said,
“Reece, Stephen and Curtis are trailblazers in their own right, and should be very proud of themselves. They are the first of what will soon be hundreds undertaking the Butchery Apprenticeship. It’s no exaggeration to say it could quite simply transform the meat industry in the next few years.”
